    3. The SC State Archives has made an index of all their early records, land and military. It is really great, you can look up by family name or locality such as Lynches Creek. It consists of 21? reels of 16 mm film. I first used it at the Archives, but have since talk members of our Gen Soc into purchasing this set for the Pensacola Public Library in case you are in NW FL. -- L. L. Scott, IBSSG L. L. 1. Re: [SCLANCAS] Abstract of Deeds - Lancaster ppgs. 87, 88, 89
    2. Sue: Does your Abstract of Deeds - Lancaster Co. show the names of HAGINS and/or HUEY? I am researching these two Lancaster names in particular. My 3g-gf, Samuel HUEY (s/o of Hercules HUEY and Isabella SMITH), married Sarah "Sally" HAGINS and this family moved to Harris Co. GA by the 1830's. The William HARPER mentioned in your posting was the husband of Catherine HUEY - Catherine being one of the sisters of my Samuel HUEY. I am trying to identify the parentage and siblings of Sarah "Sally" HAGINS - there were numerous other SC HAGINS in Harris Co. GA after the 1830-40's. I also have a great deal of HUEY data that I would like to share with anyone else researching these names. Thanks, Adrienne

    3. Hi Doris, thanks for your help. I have been able to connect a couple of BELKs;here is what I have, maybe it will add to your data as well: H.L.BELK was on a deed in 1864 Lancaster Co.SC as GRANTOR,along with R.H.WILLIAMSON(note the name Williamson also in MAMIE WILLIAMSON BELK-MASSEY) and JOHN D.CASKEY. JANE BELK married HOWELL SHUTE,born 7/5/1826 SC,died 12/30/1919 SC;can give you lots more on the SHUTE line if you like; JAMES BELK married AGNES MONTGOMERY, they had FRANCES 'FRANKIE' BELK,born 1825 NC,married JACOB HENRY KNIGHT and had Harriett,Burrell Henry and Sarah A.Knight;can give you more on the Knight line; MAMIE LILLIE WILLIAMSON BELK married LEONIDAS JACKSON MASSEY and they had 6 children, I can give you if you need them; Leonidas married also CORA WILSON and they had 5 children, have them too,let me know; Leonidas was born 9/22/1862 son of Benjamin Harper Massey and Nancy Catherine Haile;have lots on the Massey line; ROBERT BELK was on a GRANTOR on a deed in 1840 Lancaster Co. along with James Donaldson, Grantee was Benjamin Sykes Massey; I have made Robert and H>L.(Huey Larkin)"possible" brothers, sons of Calvin Belk and unkn Plyler. THOMAS M.BELK was GRANTOR on a deed in 1893 Lanc.Co. and Grantee was MAMIE MASSEY,daughter of above Mamie Lillie Williamson Belk-Massey and Leonidas. Looking at the names you are researching, we have many in common: LEGGETT,my oldest one is ALLEN LEGGETT had son John Wesley Legget, born 1857 married Elizabeth Hinson;he died in LA;are they in your data? have several COX,ALLEN,STRICKLAND,HILL,GREEN and DAVIS;please look at my website for my 'major' lines, would love to exchange information;Eleonore http://members.xoom.com/Mandaley/homepage.htm

    3. Hmm. I have Robert Lee as son of William J. Blackmon and Polly Cato. This is pretty well documented in family stuff, I'll look and see if I can find the original notes I took it from. Wm. J was an old goat, he had 3 wives, one of whom he married when he was in his 50s and she was a teenager I think. I seem to remember seeing this inconsistency in the Cato line once before -- where'd you get your info? It'd be good to find out which was right, once and for all. I didn't have Wylie's wife either, that's helpful. Anyway, Robert Lee and Almetta were married in December 1886. They had 8 kids, one of whom died as an infant - Charles Ross Blackmon, b.30 March 1888, m. Mamye Jordan 4 July 1907, d. August 1969 Lee Blackmon, b. 18 October 1891, m.
