    3. Need some help from Ross County. I am researching my g.g. grandfather, a JAMES WILSON. He married a Mary Fickle. We are pretty sure he had at least one son prior to 1850. In 1850 he was killed in a steamboat explosion, leaving Mary who was pregnant with JOSHUA WILSON at the time. She remarried in 1857 to a John H. Madden, moving to Iowa. The family bible states that the older boy (s) left for the Civil War and never returned. Joshua returned to Ohio after grown and settled in Defiance. He was my g. grandfather. According to our records, JAMES WILSON is buried in Chillicothe. I know there were early James Wilsons in Ross County, just can't seem to connect up to our James. What cemetaries are in Ross County for that time frame? Is there a historical museum? What newspapers were published at the time? Surely there would have been an article in 1850 about a local man who died in a steamboat explosion. Are the early 1800 birth records for Ross County at the county le! vel, or the state? Wish I could just drive there and check it out myself, but I can't. I have all kinds of leads, but they seem to be going nowhere -- been working on this for years. Any help that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Mary
