    1. Freshley
    2. Hello fellow researchers, The folks I am searching for are Jacob F. Freshley(Froechle/Froeschle) and Catherine Weidmier Freshley. They came to this country in 1851, landing in New York and then traveling on to Cincinnati,OH and settled near that city, where they lived for 9 years, then moved on to Spencer Co., IN. Great-grandpa- Louis Freshley was born in Portsmouth, OH. When they came to this country they probably had about 7 or 8 children, and one of them(an infant) died just before they arrived in this country, so would have been buried in NY. (They didn't tell anyone the baby had died, so it wouldn't be buried at sea). I have been researching this family in our area in Southern Indiana and I don't think all of the children came with the parents to IN. There would have been more of them here if they had. Are there any Freshley researchers out there who have a connection. Parents: Jacob F. Freshley b. 7 Feb. 1818 -Census rec.lists Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany Catherine Weidmeir Freshley b.3 June 1817-same birth place. The names I have for children are: Frederick J. b. abt 1843 The 4th child was named George Freshley b. 21 Nov. 1845 Wittenberg, Germany, there was a total of 12 children. Caroline b. 26 April 1853 John b. abt 1855 Charles b. abt. 1857 Louis b. 22 April 1859- Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH Those are the only children I have been able to find and as there were 12 children and 1 died in transit there should have been 5 more who could have stayed in OH. Any info would be appreciated and I will be delighted to share info from the families in this area. Thank you,Virginia Sorry this is so long
