I found this passage a little amusing in this book, and wanted to share it with you. Pg. 718 11. Rumer was to circulate in years to come that William Johnson had sired no less than seven hundred children and perhaps as many as a thousand. Governor Clinton felt this to be somewhat of an exaggeration and personally declared that the real figure, though quite large, was probably not much over three hundred!
