I know that there is a "site" I THINK it is at the rootsweb Ohio site that has "lost" Ohio place names, I'd start at: http://www.usrootsweb.com, choose Ohio I think it might be an option on the Ohio main page (you realize I'm doing this off the top of my head) The Franklin Co. Genealogy Soc.( (614) 469-1300 M,W,F 10-3) also has a book that has old town names but I don't know if it gives locations other than just counties. Also your policeman quest in Scioto Co...have you written to the police dept? and the library? they may have biographical information and photographs on your person of interest.. I am not sure if there is a Police museum in Ohio or published bios on police, your librarian should be able to help you with that quest...just some thoughts. You should be able if you don't already have it, to obtain his death certificate from either Lawrence Co. Health Dept (don't know the address) or the State of Ohio Vital Statistics 35 E.
