I am new on this particular website so I hope I have followed the rules. I am looking for information on the surname MONTGOMERY, with particular regard to a Portsmouth, Ohio ancestor, WILLIAM H.H. MONTGOMERY, born 1856, died 1903, buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. He lived their with his wife, MARY EMMA (nee ROSS)MONTGOMERY, worked at the local brickyard as a bricklayer. What makes it so confusing that in that small town, there was also another, Wm. H. H. Montgomery with descendents-That William is also buried in the same cemetery with his family. don't know if they had any connection. There is a question that my Wm. H.H. was born in Illinois or Indiana. I am trying to find out his parents--if they were American born or came from Scotland or Ireland. Is there someone that can send me to a source of information or someone whose ancestors knew or spoke of the family? I really would appreciate hearing yea or nay. thank you. Connie Backers, No. Calif.
