    1. Lawrence Co birth and death certificates
    2. To Carol Montrose and anyone else who may be interested, The birth and death certificates for Lawrence Co are located in the Ironton City Health Dept., 2120 S 8th St, Ironton, OH 45638 PH 740-532-2172. They have all surviving local copies of death certificates, but there are large gaps, especially in some of the years shortly after 1908. The State Vital Stats office, or the OHS Archives is a more reliable source, and cheaper. Don Clark, Lawrence County Genealogical Society

    3. >On Thursday 11 June 1998, From: marlene robinson <mrobins@qn.net> >where Cecelia Scioto County was? Want to to know where Lilly & WAits >Station were. I looked at GNIS and found Lilly and Waits Station, with descriptions, locations and a map in most any amount of detail you'd want. I did not find any Cecelia in OH. GNIS and the Tiger map server are wonderful resources for almost any place name [or other geographic feature], and ought to be a bookmark on everyone's browser. 2. Carol Montrose
    3. I know that there is a "site" I THINK it is at the rootsweb Ohio site that has "lost" Ohio place names, I'd start at: http://www.usrootsweb.com, choose Ohio I think it might be an option on the Ohio main page (you realize I'm doing this off the top of my head) The Franklin Co. Genealogy Soc.( (614) 469-1300 M,W,F 10-3) also has a book that has old town names but I don't know if it gives locations other than just counties. Also your policeman quest in Scioto Co...have you written to the police dept? and the library? they may have biographical information and photographs on your person of interest.. I am not sure if there is a Police museum in Ohio or published bios on police, your librarian should be able to help you with that quest...just some thoughts. You should be able if you don't already have it, to obtain his death certificate from either Lawrence Co. Health Dept (don't know the address) or the State of Ohio Vital Statistics 35 E. 3. I sw a message to the effect that some of Ross County, Ohio was once Pike County. Would anyhone in Pike County have the time or ability to look at census records for 1820? I am still trying to learn where my gggrandfather Luther Maynard was before 1830. He had a twin - Martin Maynard - and both of them were in Ross County by 1830, according to marriage records I have found for them, but cannot find either one in 1820. Any help would be appreciated, and I will gladly pay for copies of any records found. Alice Van Vlack avanvlackno2@worldnet.att.net

    3. If you ever decide to go to library, you have a better chance of using the viewer if you make an appointment. I travelled 92 miles, and was on it a little, and was asked to get off, even though there were a couple who were using 2 other viewers who made an appointment. I kinda refused and was given a rules paper for the viewers. So, I kinda created an uproar, but will know the rules next time. Here they are: 1. Users may sign up for a time on any of the readers in person or over the telephone through the staff member working the info and/or reference. 2. Persons reserving times will not be reqired to show or give their libvrary card #'s. 3. Time slots run for one hour. Reservations must be made on the hour. 4. Reservations for the readers will be held for ten minutes. After 10 minutes, that person's time is forfeited and the next person may use the reader. 5. One person may schedule only two, nonconsecutive hours per day. 6. Time may be scheduled for no more than one week in advance. 7. One person can schedule no more than four hours of time per week. Hope this helps someone like me, who expects alot. Thank you, Judy

Ohio but do not know where he is buried or who his wife was. I am in earnest hope that someone out there is a descendent or knows something about these folks and would appreciate greatly hearing from some of the historians or kin in that area. thank you in advance for any information you may have. 3. I am new on this particular website so I hope I have followed the rules. I am looking for information on the surname MONTGOMERY, with particular regard to a Portsmouth, Ohio ancestor, WILLIAM H.H. MONTGOMERY, born 1856, died 1903, buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. He lived their with his wife, MARY EMMA (nee ROSS)MONTGOMERY, worked at the local brickyard as a bricklayer. What makes it so confusing that in that small town, there was also another, Wm. H. H. Montgomery with descendents-That William is also buried in the same cemetery with his family. don't know if they had any connection. There is a question that my Wm. H.H. was born in Illinois or Indiana. I am trying to find out his parents--if they were American born or came from Scotland or Ireland. Is there someone that can send me to a source of information or someone whose ancestors knew or spoke of the family? I really would appreciate hearing yea or nay. thank you. Connie Backers, No. Calif.

    1. George LOPER, born 1847, OH
    2. Randal W. Cooper
    3. Dear Ed and Lynda Campbell and other LOPER Researchers, I am researching George LOPER, who was born in Ohio in 1847, and who appeared in the 1860 census of Greenup Co KY, page 733. He was enumerated in 1860 as being 23. His wife Rebecca was 18, born KY. Also in their home were Harriet Nelson, 15, housekeeper; Harmon Aldridge, 20, born OH; and William Cooper, 35, born in Massachusetts. William Cooper was my third-great grandfather. If I can trace George LOPER back to his birthplace in Ohio and identify George's parents, I may discover William Cooper's whereabouts before his arrival in KY about 1846. Thank you! Randal W. Cooper <rwcooper@kellnet.com> Lorain, Ohio
