    1. [Scioto-Valley-OH-L] LORD family in Scioto Valley
    2. I am researching the LORD family, and I wanted to post the information I have about them again to the list, in case someone recognizes it. The earliest ancestor in the LORD line that I'm sure about is Abner Kern LORD, born abt. 1822 in OH. His mother may have been Elizabeth and he probably had a brother named Henry, born abt. 1821, and a sister named Nancy. Nancy married George HOOD, and she probably died before 1850. They had three children in 1850 - names looked like Henry, Jane, and Edward, born abt. 1845, 1847, and 1849, respectively. There might have been another sister or sister- in-law named Eliza LORD who married Ezra LORD. Or perhaps Ezra was their brother. Their might have been another LORD brother named John also. He was living with Abner Kern LORD and family on 1850 census. Abner Kern LORD married Susannah TETER MC MULLENs in 1845. They lived in Scioto Co., OH until sometime between 1850 - 1860, when they moved to IL. Their children were John, Frank, Albert, Sarah Elizabeth, and Eliza. Another possible connection is Perry LORD, who lived in Union Twp in early 1800's. Another is Thomas LORD who lived for a time in Franklin Co., OH. On the 1810 census, there was an Abner LORD who lived in Washington Co., OH. He died abt. 1821 and his will was recorded in Franklin Co., OH. It seems like there may be a connection, between Abner Kern LORD and Abner LORD. One possiblity is that Abner Kern LORD's mother, Elizabeth, was a KERN. Maybe she was the daughter of an Abner KERN, who was on the 1820 census in Ross Co., OH. Anyway, I'd like to know if you recognize any of these names,or if you have any info. about the LORD family in Ohio. Please let me know. Thanks. Beth BSmith7439@aol.com

Check w/ probate court to see if there is a will or estate for him and possibly a guardianship for his children if there were any. If not, you might check for a divorce. > because she married Abner Kern LORD in 1845 in either Ross or Scioto County. Marriage records should be available (Scioto's are published) or Ross Co. at the library (they may be published too come to think of it.) So you should be able to indentify where they were married. The 1850, 1860 & 1880 Ohio census are indexed, it should be fairly easy to indentify where they were living and in that time frame, who was living with them, their ages, relationships (in the later census) and birthplaces. > They had the following children: John, Albert, Eliza, Sarah Elizabeth, and > Frank; I believe the children were all born in Scioto Co., OH. 1. Re: Vital Records
    2. Hi Sue, I don't know where you live, but since you are talking about records from 1803, you may check on my ancestors when you have time. My 3rd great grandfather was Elijah Glover. According to Evans "History of Scioto County" he was the second Sherrif and his two son's, Dr. John GLOVER and Elijan Barnes GLOVER who were members of the Ohio Senate and Legislature and there is a street in Portsmouth named "GLOVER STREET". A few years ago I was in Portsmouth for three hours, so didn't get a lot of research done. If you can find anybody with the name of GLOVER they are probably related. Elijah GLOVER was a son of Samuel GLOVER who lived in Mason County, KY and had 12 children who married and seven of them removed from KY to Portsmouth in the early 1800's. Thank you in advance if you happen to find any info in the records you might have access to. Since your name is SMITH, one of the twelve children in Portsmouth, Nathan GLOVER,. had a grandaughter named Mary Isabell GLOVER who married John Emerson SMITH, son of Luther SMITH and Lucretia CALDWELL. An offsping , Julia Alice SMITH married Ralph W. WISNIEWSKI and owned a Drug Store in Portsmouth. Thanks. Ed GLOVER San Pedro, CA.
