Patsy: Im not sure if they will do it, however they did for me a few years back. The court house in for Scioto county had a researcher there who did up books for them in cemeteries. Her name was Caryn SHOEMAKER. Her husbands name was Duane. She is a distant relative of one of my distant relatives. anyway she moved to Gilbert Arizona, and i have misplaced her address. If you can get the courthouse(records office) to give it to you your in luck, because she has volumns of books she put together for that area, plus she is a SHOEMAKER. might try looking up a phone number for her from operator. good luck. and if you get the address let me know. thanks maggie
To all the Lawrence County (Ironton), Ohio, researchers: I'm looking for any information you may have regarding my great-grandparents, JACOB and NANCY ABRAMS JILES and my grandfather, EDWIN EARL JILES. All of them were born in Ironton (Lawrence County), Ohio. JACOB and NANCY were probably born between 1865-1870 and EDWIN was born in 1890. JACOB and NANCY were married in Ironton between 1885-1889. They had 2 daughters, Rebecca and Arimitha Jiles (years of their birth are unknown) and my grandfather, EDWIN. Both of the girls died at the age of 12 years. EDWIN was a barber in Ironton and lived there until he married MABEL AGNES THOMPSON of Cincinnati. They had six children, 4 girls and 2 boys, all born in Ironton. The family moved back and forth between Ironton and Cincinnati several times.

I need someone to go to the courthouse & get copies of an 1850 divorce. I just called the courthouse & they do not do searches themselves. I'll glady reimburse expenses. Here is the information that I have: Early Court Records of Scioto County, Ohio Vol 2. Abstracted by Caryn R. Shoemaker, CGRS Minford, Ohio Apr 1981 p. 500 Henry SHUFLIN vs. Elizabeth SHUFLIN 14 Sept. 1850 Petitioner states he married in fall 1843 Elizabeth REEVES, they set up housekeeping in Greenup Co., Ky. and lived together until Feb. 1849. They had two sons, both living; Resin T. SUFLIN age near 4 years, and John SHUFTIN age 2. On 20 Mar.1849 she committed adultery with Henry STAPLETON and others on 9 April 1849. On 29 Jan. 1850 she filed her answer, denying all unchastity, saying he let STAPLETON board at their house against her will to set up a state of circumstances. After her husband left sometime last spring, he went to her father's house, where she and the two children resided, presuaded her to come to Portsmouth and she has since become pregnant to the said Henry SHUFFLIN. Case dismissed. As you can see there are numerous spelling errors, which makes me wonder about the rest of it. Becky

In a message dated 98-08-20 20:24:03 EDT, you write: << Re: Book called A History of Scioto County, Ohio together with a Pioneer Record of Southern Ohio by Nelson W. Try to back up information you find in Evans' book; I have found many errors on my family lines in there. I don't mean to rain on your parade, just thought you should be made aware.
