ELLA BARNHART-DARLING was born May 29, 1856 in WEST VIRGINIA. ELLA died July 13, 1922, known as ELMARY DARLING on death certificate. She went through life with at least 14 different recorded names or more. She died at son, FRED DARLINGS' residence, which was Western, or Norton, or Worton Avenue, Chillicothe. ELLA BARNHART-DARLING is suppose to be in Greenlawn Cem., but there is no record, as ELMARY DARLING. ELLA was married first to unknown husband, who produced first daughter AGNES HART, b. 1876. AGNES HART married GEORGE J. BROWN 2 Mar 1891. ELLA was married second time, m. 02 May 1884, to WILLIAM DARLING, b. 1856, who sired at least 10 or more children, but only 3 survived. On d.c., ELLA BARNHART DARLINGS' parents are unknown. On 1880 census, ELLA is recorded as NELLIE HART, born in OHIO; parents in VIRGINIA. (FRANKLIN TWP.) 37 37 Ross County Census. On 1880 census, in same household there is a CANNOT DECIPHER FIRST NAME, BARNHART, who is a WIDOW, and 60 years old, and born in VIRGINIA. This could possibly be ELLA BARNHARTS' mother or relation. Anyone with information on the BARNHART/HART line in VIRGINIA AND WEST VIRGINIA, please contact me. I think this might be the part of VIRGINIA that later was changed to WEST VIRGINIA, but I am not sure. Thanks, Judy (Darling) Fry-Nichols I am going by my moms maiden name now, cause I have always liked it. There's seems to be quite a few new people on the Scioto County digest so I wanted to post my TITUS surname again to see if anyone out there is researching the Titus family or has come across the name in there research. James and Lydia (Collis) Titus were married in Bloom Tp., Scioto Co., Ohio in 1830. Their children are Rebecca, Elizabeth, Lydia, William Jefferson, Samuel Wallace, Sarah (Sally), Royal, James Ray, John, and Betty. James Titus's parents were Tetus and Polly (Johnson) Titus. I don't know anything about the Collis or Johnson lines and would love to learn more about Lydia Collis and Polly Johnson and their families. If anyone has info on the TITUS/COLLIS/JOHNSON lines, I would love to hear from you. Dianne Titus wdt@spitfire.net

Hi Allen, Long time, no chat. Any chance you could get rid of the "[Scioto-Valley-OH-L]" which precedes every subject line in the digest? I already know what list the digest is from--what I need to know is whether the post is of any interest, and there is not enough space left to be able to tell most of the time. Thanks, Charles -- Windows 95 (win-DOH-z), n. Hi Robbintina, I saw your post regarding Mason Co., KY Marriages. Elijah and Catherine (Jones) GLOVER are my 3rd great grandparents and John and (Prudence Lamb) are Eijah's brother and wife. Their father Samuel (and Elizabeth Barnes) moved from Baltimore Co. MD in 1795 to Mason Co. KY. They had 13 children and 12 that married and had families. Of the 12, seven moved to Portsmouth, OH, three to Louisville, KY, one to Marion, Linn Co, Iowa and one to Clark, Co. IN. I have found living descendants from seven of the twelve. Samuel's father, John Glover is our progenitor and imigrated from England to Baltimore Co. MD before 1750. He died in MD 1803. I have researched about 4000 ancestors from John Glover and about 10,000 names including collateral lines. If anyone has any questions or info to add, please contact me. Thanks for your post. Wanting to hook up with other researchers working on Spriggs, Throckmorton and Davis lines. Interested in all lines related to Daniel and Sarah Throckmorton Spriggs of Jackson County. Their 12 children lived in Jackson, Scioto and Lawrence counties starting c. 1820. Also interested in help finding siblings, parents, descendants of Martin Davis and John Davis of Jackson, Scioto and Lawrence Counties. Martin Davis married Rachel Spriggs in 1844 Jackson County, moved to Scioto County 1855, Lawrence County in 1870 and back to Scioto County in 1880. Children: John, Joseph, William, James and Henry. John Davis married Louisa Neff in 1855 Jackson County and lived close to Martin Davis following years. Kathy Le Comte Lupton
Were births of babies recorded or announced in the newspapers back in the late 1800s, or their passing?. My great grandfather, WILLIAM DARLING, b. 1856 to d. ? had at least 7 or 8 babies who didn't survive. And 3 who did, including my grandpa, FRED DARLING. I was told recently, that only the wealthy, were privileged to get obituaries; to me that might be a cold fact, but maybe it is true. Thanks, Judy Lee
I am trying to put together descendants of John and Sarah Moats of Harrison TWP in Ross Co. They acquired property there in Harrison TWP in 1815. They had the following children : John who married Betsy Lewis in Ross Co.1815, Charles (who may be the Charles who married Nancy Dorman in Ross Co. 1811) Jacob who married Ann Smithey 1819 Sarah who married Adam Gilfillan in 1815 Catherine who never married--died about 1870 had inherited all of her parents estate in 1848 when her father died. Both Charles and John died sometime before 1870 and their children are mentioned in the settlement of Catherine's estate. My problem is which of these children belonged to John and which to Charles. In studying this probate paper, I have determined that John's children probably were: John Jr who married Eliza Lewis and moved to IL Allison who moved to IL with his father Alfred who lived in Pike Co and acted as attorney for the others Angus who died before 1870-his daughter and grandchildren inherited his portion Henrietta who went to IL with father married Benjamin Lewis there Charles' children probably were: Charles who married Nancy Fletcher Susan Frances who married William Long Catherine who married Alexander Current Sarah who married Ott Hannah who married John Campbell Samuel who married Mary Jane Campbell Now, of course, I cannot be sure of the above information. I would like to ask if anyone has any information, corrections, anything at all on any of the above persons to please get in touch with me. Margarette Moats Davis

Obit Akron News 11/3/1905 George E. Engle was of foreign birth, born in Germany, Sept. 26, 1823. He departed this life Oct. 26, 1905, aged 82 years and 1 month. In the year 1837 he came to Ross county, Ohio, and was there united in marriage with Sarah Creakbaum in the year 1846. They then moved to Kosciusko county, Indiana. Sarah last name was also spelled Kreighbaum and her family was also from Ross Co. It appears that her parents might have been George and Polly both born in PA. George and Sarah were my gr-gr-grandparents. They had the following children born while they lived in Ross County: Kathryn 1850, Issac 1853, John 12/19/1855, Mary Ann 1857. I am looking for any information on Sarah's family. I believe that they also migrated on to Kosciusko Co, IN but I have no proof at this time. Thank you very much, Gary Engle My Engle Family
