    2. Dan and Laura Day
    3. I am looking for information on the ancestors of Maude STARR, born July 29, 1881 in Leo, Jackson Co. OH. Some of Maude's siblings are Lulu, b. July 24, 1884, Donna and Still. Lulu and Donna moved to California. Maude married Ira DAY, November 1, 1899, possibly in Ross Co. OH. It is also possible that the STARR family had moved from Jackson Co. to Ross Co. prior to 1899. Maude and Ira are the parents of Mervin DAY b. 1903, m. 1924 to Grace Marie ANDREWS, and Mary DAY m. Lewis DAVIS. I am also looking for the STARR family connection to the JENKS family of Jackson, Co. OH. Please contact me if you can help with any of these names. Laura Day dday@gte.net

    2. Karen and Bob
    3. I am researching the ABRAMS family. They migrated from Greenup Co., KY to Lawrence Co., OH in the 1850's. Joseph ABRAMS and his wife, Mary (Rhoda) are listed on the 1860 census in Lawrence Co. Joseph is my husband's ggggrandfather. Am also interested in the CANTER family of Jackson Co. Amos CANTER was born abt 1845. The BRAGDON family also lived in Jackson Co. Am looking for information on James BRAGDON and Reuben BRAGDON. James was living in Jackson Co., in 1860, Lawrence Co. in 1870, and back in Jackson Co. in 1880. Any help with these families would be greatly appreciated. Karen

    1. [Scioto-Valley-OH-L] FRISKY SQUIRREL, light-hearted question.
    2. Judy Lee Nichols
    3. Some of you might find this amusing, but I have a picture of a man and woman (my ancestors) sitting down in a portrait, with people standing behind them. She is seated to the left, and him to the right in the picture. She is posing with a miniature book, it appears to be a corded necklace miniature book, titled, "THE TALE OF FRISKY SQUIRREL." The author is ARTHUR SCOTT BAILEY. It has a picture on the front of 2 standing rabbits, she is holding this miniature book up on her lap to pose for the picture. Every time I look at this picture, I wonder why she is posing with a corded necklace miniature book. My grandma says for the simple fact, she liked it. Any insight to this book & author appreciated & maybe the fashion of corded necklace books. It puts you in the mind of the PETER BRIER RABBIT series. Thanks for reading, Judy Lee (Darling) Fry-Nichols

    1. [Scioto-Valley-OH-L] Charles GROSS Civil War Soldier??
    2. john emmitt
    3. Can someone help me solve the following: Charles GROSS was born in 1847 to Gottlob Gross and Elizabeth Kaufman Ross Co. Ohio. His father died about 1856 and Elizabeth married Fredrick Wallrodt 6 Jan 1858. Charles was listed on the 1860 census age 13. on 19 Mar. 1861 guardianship was given to Fredrick Wallrodt at Waverly Ohio along with his two younger sisters Elizabeth and Sophina. He appeared on the 1870 census age 22 no occupation listed with the Wallrodt's Fred & Elizabeth.. There is the possibility that he took the Wallrodt family name. Family legend says he was killed in the Civil War, we know that isn't true since he was alive in 1870. Another story says he died from War wounds about 1880 and was buried in an unmarked grave in Edwards Farm Cemetery in Franklin Twp. Ross Co. Ohio. I have searched the Ohio Civil War soldiers list using both Gross and Wallrodt names to no avail. There is an entry for a Charles gross from Ohio Age 28 wounded at Chickamouga Georgia in 1863. He may not have been truthful when he gave his age but it is doubtful that he could have convinced anyone he was 28 when he was not more than 15 or 16 when entering the war in 1862. Any help with what happened to G Uncle Charles will be appreciated. John W. Emmitt Researching: BATEMAN, DAVIS, EMMITT, GROSS, DAVIS, RENOUD, MILLER, WALLRODT/WALLRATH all the above from the Lower Scioto Valley Ohio.
