    1. [Scioto-Valley-OH-L] "VET SLERUN" Deciphering
    2. Randal W. Cooper
    3. Dear Judy Lee Nichols, You asked for help in deciphering the place of birth of a woman, state or country, which in the handwriting of the one who recorded the information looked like "VET SLERUN". I have two suggestions. First, it might be "Sweden", which is "Sverige" in their language. The second possibility is "Switzerland", whose official names are "Schweitz", "Suisse" and "Svizzera", in the three languages which are spoken in that alpine country [German, French and Italian]. In addition, the name used at the time of the recording of the information might have been different than today's. The pronunciation of any of these names when transcribed by the recorder could have resulted in the version you have found. Then again, the answer might be something completely different. I submit these thoughts for your consideration, in the hope that they may be of help. Randal W. Cooper <rwcooper@kellnet.com> Fellow Researcher of the Lower Scioto Valley, Ohio

    1. [Scioto-Valley-OH-L] "VET SLERUN" Deciphering
    2. Judy If the place of birth information came from the OH records, you may have to use some "creative reading" to decipher it. Maybe it was originally difficult to read handwriting or maybe typing problems, but these are some of the typed entries that I've come across in the death index while searching for my ancestors. After studying them awhile (and having a good chuckle), I figured out most of them. No wonder it took so long to find them. <G> I'm not complaining. At least they were there. :) These are all THROCKMORTON from counties in OH. THROCKMOCITO AILI County Name: SHELFJV THROCKMO RTOHOIIFR County Name: SCIOTO THROCKMO RTEESTHEI R County Name:IYAHHOGA THROCKMA TIIOSEPI I County Name: SCIOTO THROCKM RTOFDWARI D County Name: SCIOTO Patricia
