William Steve Hewitt, age 70, of Myrtle Beach, died Sunday April 18, 2010 at home after losing his courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 28, 1939, the son of the late William Strocie Hewitt and Lurline B. Hewitt. Steve graduated Aynor High School and went on to become the Vice President of Chapin Company in Myrtle Beach before retiring in 2000. Steve was a line judge with the South Carolina High School League for 10 years. Since his retirement he has enjoyed being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie R. Hewitt, four daughters, Dianne Holladay and husband Larry of Georgetown, Donna Griffith and husband Mike of Gastonia, NC, Darlene Pittman and husband Roy of Houston, Texas, and Dorothy Sherman and husband Jamie of Myrtle Beach. He is also survived by Grandsons, Jeremiah Holladay, Carson Griffith, Kaleb Sherman, granddaughters Jessica Holladay and Ava Grace Sherman and great grandson Seth Holladay and great granddaughter Brianna Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas E. Hewitt. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Socastee United Methodist Church with Pastor Ray Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday in the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
