Mr. Daniel Collins (Carl) Strickland, age 88, of the Cherry Grove Community in Columbus County passed on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Loris Community Hospital in Loris, SC. Mr. Strickland was born on September 11, 1921 in the Cherry Grove Community. He was a retired farmer and a Master Barber. He enjoyed coon hunting, viewing nature and loved working in local politics. Funeral services will be conducted at Worthington Funeral Home Chapel in Chadbourn, NC on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Josh Phillips and Reverend Jerry Rowell officiating. Interment will be in the Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise to whom he was married for 61 years; two sons, Walter Collins Strickland and Daniel Charles Strickland and his wife, Patsy of Cerro Gordo; a daughter, Mary Ann Allgood of Whiteville.
