James Ithel Tompkins, 82, of Harris Shortcut Rd., passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, S.C. Mr. Tompkins was born in Horry County, a son of the late Daniel Walker and Cordie Brown Tompkins. He was a member of Homewood Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Beulah Tompkins of the home; one son, Glenn J. Tompkins and wife, Donna, of Conway; three grandchildren, Eric, Andrew and Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from Homewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
