    2. Bertie J. "Granny Bird" McDowell, age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Granny Bird was born November 17, 1928 in Garrisburg, Virginia and raised in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina by Campbell and Mucy Hawthorne. Granny Bird loved golf and was a member of Myrtlewood Golf Course in Myrtle Beach. She was also a member of the Waccamaw Community Foundation in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. McDowell was the family Matriarch and will be long remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Granny Bird was preceded in death by her husbands; Grady Wilson Jenkins, Sr. and Thomas McDowell; her daughter, Debra Gay Bisgrove; and her granddaughter, Kelly Ann Cox. Granny Bird is survived by her twin daughters; Patricia J. Cox and her husband, Judson B. Cox of Loris, Lutricia J. Goodwin of Conway; her son-in-law, Gerald Bisgrove of Paradise Valley, AZ; her grandchildren, Niki Cocuzza and her husband Scott of Phoenix, AZ, Reid Jenkins and his wife, Heather, of Myrtle Beach, Kris Wall and his wife, Megan, of Phoenix, AZ, D.J. Hucks and his wife, Lynn, of Conway, Justin Jenkins and his wife, Julie, of Myrtle Beach, Angel Bryan and her husband, Beau, Sr. of Pawleys Island, Courtney Hucks of Conway, Stephani Jenkins of Myrtle Beach; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Colin, Niko, Gianna, Paige, and Jenna Cocuzza, Colton, Dylan, and Hayden Grey Jenkins, Mya Wall, Brantley Hope Hucks and Patrick Gunner Hucks, Brady Wilson Jenkins, and Beau, Jr. and Henry Bryan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 26, 2010 at McMillan-Small Funeral home Chapel with Dr. J. Kirk Lawton, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Waccamaw Community Foundation, 3655 S. Hwy 17 Business, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 or to the South Carolina Autism Society, 3254 Holmestown Rd, # A, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.
