NICHOLS - Mr. Maxwell Lucion Stephens, 81, husband of Betty Floyd Stephens, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at his home after an illness. Mr. Stephens was born January 5, 1929 in Horry County, a son of the late Leland L. and Maggie Gerald Stephens. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Stephens in addition to a wife of the home are: a Son: Fenton Stephens and his wife Frankie of Nichols; 2 Daughters: Vonnie Collins and her husband Clayton of Nichols and Lora Anne Barnhill and her husband Danny and Nichols; his Grandchildren: Clay Collins and his wife Jessica, Whitney Elliott and her husband Andrew, Bryan Barnhill and Logan Barnhill; and a Brother: Bobby L. Stephens and his wife Marie of Murrells Inlet. Mr. Stephens was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Kacie Nicole Stephens, 2 brothers, Arden Stephens and Kirby Stephens and 3 sisters, Geneva Williams, Alice Willoughby and Mable Strickland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 7 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bryan Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
