Mrs. Geraldine Cannon Snyder, 84, passed away Thursday, May 6th at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Snyder was born July 13, 1925, in Conway, SC, a daughter of the late Jim Mayo and Marie Dix Cannon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Snyder, her son-in-law, Richard E. Byrd, and her sister, Marionette C. Lee. Gerri was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a devoted friend to all. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach Shrine Club Ladies Auxiliary. Prior to moving to Myrtle Beach, Mrs. Snyder resided in Conway, SC. She is survived by two daughters; Vickie S. Byrd of Raleigh, NC and Dawn S. Alford and her husband William H. "Billy" Alford of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother-in-law, J. Archie Lee of Conway, SC and a nephew, J. Randal "Randy" Lee of Columbia, SC. Gerri is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Rae Russell of Charleston, SC; Shannon R. Alford (Brian) of Raleigh, NC; Natalie A. Temples (Brett) of Fayetteville, GA; Wells Alford of Myrtle Beach, SC and three great-grandchildren, Elliot and Kylie Alford of Raleigh, NC and Ellison Temples of Fayetteville, GA. Mrs. Snyder is also survived by three step-grandchildren; Linda Byrd-Nelson (Andy) of Raleigh, NC, Richard E. Byrd (Deborah) of Charlotte, NC and Donna Byrd Thompson (John) of Hampstead, NC and five step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 8th at the Grissom Campus of the First Presbyterian Church, 3810 Robert Grissom Parkway with Dr. Robert C. Wilkes, Jr. officiating and Rev. Chris Denny officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the church on Robert Grissom Parkway.
