Faye Eason Sweet passed away on her birthday, Friday, May 21 st, 2010, in the presence of her large and loving family. She was the eldest daughter of Elizabeth (Monk) Vereen Eason and Eric Francis Eason and was born on May 21, 1938. Faye's children and their spouses are Terry Easterling (Marie) Garden City, Debra Whitlock (Rhett), Nokesville, VA, Scarlett Lee (Andrew) Garden City, Donald Easterling and partner, Michael Proctor, of Atlanta, and Sophie Gamble (Rick) Charleston, SC. She had many grandchildren, Greg Easterling, Ericka Laws, Corky, Richard, Aaron, Aiden Whitlock, Shane and Michelle Doyle, Taylor and Madison Gamble; and great-grandchildren, Ava. Sofia, Cole Laws, Anna, Brady, Avery Whitlock, Miranda Doyle, Bradley and Ronnie Watson. Faye's surviving siblings are sisters, Becky Sabo and Charlotte Jones. Predeceased siblings include a sister, Bobby Farr; and brother, Eric Eason. Faye graduated from Socastee High School and was a star basketball player. Faye also played some golf in her early years and made a hole in one with a hard hit worm-burner on the Par Three in Myrtle Beach. Faye was an avid sports fan and followed the Atlanta Braves with a fever surpassed only by her passion for the Clemson Tigers football. Faye was a budding entrepreneur at the age of 25 when she acquired and operated the Drake restaurant in Surfside Beach, SC, where locals gathered daily to drink "bottomless" cups of coffee and eat fine seafood and country cooking from her immaculate kitchen. She later became co-owner and manager of Pirate Cove Mobile Home Park in Garden City, SC. She was Past Royal Matron of Amaranth Murrells Inlet Court No. 20. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. B. Mike Alexander, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church. After services the family will receive friends at the home of Debra Whitlock at 3129 1st Ave. South, in Garden City at the end of Stanley Drive.
