Mrs. Mildred Vernease Shannon Smith, age 82, of Highway 66 went home to be with her Lord Monday, May 24, 2010. Mrs. Smith was born November 24, 1927 in Horry County, SC a daughter of the late Lewis Curtis Shannon and the late Jane Stevens Shannon. She was a homemaker and was predeceased by her brother: L.C. Shannon. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband: Eldon "Ed" Smith of the home, one daughter: Linda S. Parker and her husband Daniel of Loris, her two grandchildren that were her pride and joy: Breck Parker and Shannon Parker, both of Loris, three sisters-in-law: Shirley Shannon and Cara Bell Stevens Todd, both of Loris and Mae Ellis Todd of Wilmington, NC and many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Ward Funeral Home in Loris and at other times at the home of the daughter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Thelton Powell and Mr. Tim Ebbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Cane Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted but memorials may be sent to Beulah Baptist Church, 2651 Hwy. 66, Loris, SC 29569.
