Myrtle Leona Leigh Suggs, age 81, died Friday, October 1, 2010 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness. Born on July 5, 1929 in Loris, Leona was the daughter of the late Thomas Rhosier Leigh and the late Mattie Ella Hardee Leigh. Mrs. Leona was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and a longtime member of Mt. Leon Baptist Church. Survivors include her two sons: Earl Spurgeon Suggs of Whiteville, NC and Ernest Kevin Suggs, Sr. and wife, Donna of Loris; one brother: Ellie Lavern Leigh of Whiteville; one sister: Ilene Leigh Smithart of Loris; sister-in-law: Vera Leigh of Loris; six grandchildren: Ernest Kevin Suggs, Jr. and wife, Kimberly and Josh Suggs all of Loris, April Fowler and husband, Scotty of Conway, SC Tonya Wells and husband, Pete and Joseph Suggs and wife, LeeAnn and Loretta Long and husband, Timothy all of Whiteville; and eleven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Suggs was predeceased by her parents and her husband: Spurgeon Redfern Suggs, three brothers: James Alton Leigh, Arthur Blake Leigh and William Thomas Leigh; and one sister: Melvadan Strickland. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Mt. Leon Baptist Church with committal services following at Twin City Memorial Gardens. Reverend Lee Singleton and Reverend Lonnie T. Johnson will officiate services. Visitation will be Monday, October 4, 2010 from 6 until 8 PM at Hardwick Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt.
