MARION- Roger "Dale" Grainger, Sr., 66, husband of Arty Mae Turbeville Grainger, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence after an illness. Mr. Grainger was born May 17, 1944, in Horry County, a son of the late Ed and Janie Greenwood Grainger. He was a retired mechanic, having worked with Marion Exxon. Surviving Mr. Grainger in addition to his wife of the home are: 2 Sons: Roger Dale Grainger, Jr. of Marion and Darren Grainger and his wife Susan of Marion; 2 Grandchildren: Jordan Grainger and Taylor Welch, both of Marion; 3 Sisters: Inez Johnson of Tabor City, NC; Shelby Fowler of Whiteville, NC and Hiawatha Strickland of Whiteville, NC; a Special Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law: Jerry and Katheryn Turbeville of Marion; and Brother-in-Law: JE Turbeville of Walterboro. Mr. Grainger was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Monday, October 11 at Mullins-Marion Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Neil Hinson officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 until 8pm at Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
