On Thursday morning, September 30, 2010, at 7 a.m., Elizabeth D. Currence met her Lord and Savior that she loved and served for 91 years. Mrs. Currence was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Joe Mann and Hattie Booth Dorsey. She was a member of North Conway Baptist Church and was a retired school teacher with Horry County Schools for 35 years. Surviving are one son, Gene W. Vereen and wife, Carolyn, of Myrtle Beach; one daughter, Nell Vereen of Conway; three grandchildren, Joannie Hall, Mack Hucks, and Lauren Welsch; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Dorsey and wife, Joyce, of Loris; three sisters, Kathleen Thomas of Chantilly, Va., Angeline Johnson of Loris, and Wilma Craig of Marion. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, with Rev. Trey Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior the service, from 10 until 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
