Opaline Chestnut Hucks, 72, wife of the late Frederic B. "Freddie" Hucks, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at her residence following an illness. Mrs. Hucks was born in Conway, a daughter of the late William Park and Ruby Suggs Chestnut. She was a member of Langston Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she was employed by New South Companies, Inc. for 41 years. Mrs. Hucks was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Annette Hucks Johnson; and a nephew, Richie Chestnut. Surviving are one son, Michael L. Hucks and wife, Windy, of Conway; one grandson, Colby P. Hucks of Conway; one sister, Emma Lee Williams and husband, Aubrey, of Conway; one brother, E. Randall Chestnut and wife, Lee, of New Orleans, La.; one sister-in-law, Jan Metts Kyzer and husband, George, of Conway; one brother-in-law, A. Tommy Johnson of Conway; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from Langston Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Davenport officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
