William Norman "Shorty" Floyd, 76, of Glass Hill Drive, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Mr. Floyd was born in Horry County, a son of the late Charlie Bruce and Blanche Marie Roberts Floyd. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Floyd retired from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Jesse Johnce Floyd; and a sister, Marvel F. Gerrald. Surviving are his wife, Doris Cox Floyd of Conway; one daughter, Norma F. Wright and husband, Mark, of Galivants Ferry; one son, William N. Floyd, II of Galivants Ferry; and three grandchildren, Austin Floyd, Regan Floyd, and Blake Wright. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Green Sea Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Burnette officiating.
