    2. ORANGEBURG - Dorothy Fennell Harper, 86, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Lexington Assisted Living. Graveside Service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jud Jordan officiating. Mrs. Harper was born in Loris, SC a daughter of the late Mosley Frierson and Eva Mae Bellamy Fennell. Mrs. Harper was a graduate of St. Andrews College in Laurinsburg, NC, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics and Science in 1945. She worked as an Assistant Home Demonstration Agent from 1945-46 in West Jefferson, NC, from 1946-48 in Lancaster,SC, and in 1949 in Kaufman, TX, as a County Home Demonstration Agent. Dorothy taught in the Orangeburg City School System beginning in 1958, and retired in 1984. She was a member of the National Education Association, the SC Education Association, and the Orangeburg County Education Association. Mrs. Harper was a member of the Kappa Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society of South Carolina since 1969. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orangeburg. Mrs. Harper was the widow of William Edgar Harper. Survivors: Daughter: Dr. and Mrs. Darrell ( Cynthia ) H. Gaskins of Naples, FL; Son: Mr. William Randall ( Mary ) Harper of Columbia; Grandchildren: Craig, Darrell, and Trenton Gaskins, Amy ( John ) Bettini, Randall Harper; GreatGrand: Elizabeth Schneider and Thomas Bettini. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home.
