MARION - Mrs. Mildred J. Godbold, 81, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Marion County Nursing Center after an illness. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 19, at Centenary Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Oak Grove Plantation (Godbold home on Hwy 41). Mrs. Godbold was born in Conway, a daughter of the late Monroe and Roma Johnson. She is also pre-deceased by her husband, Francis Earl Godbold and a sister, Gertrude Ackerman. Mrs. Godbold was retired as a Registered Nurse, having graduated from McLeod Nursing School. She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church. Surviving are her sons, John and Earl Godbold, and daughter, Ann Flynn, all of Marion; brothers GM Johnson, Jr. of Conway, James Johnson of California, and Billy Johnson of Sumter; a sister, Evelyn Richardson of Conway; three grandchildren, Chris Finney of Columbia, Angie Finney Chovan of Florence, and Matthew John God-bold of Marion; as well as four great-grandchildren.
