    2. Cora Grainger Stevens, 91, formerly of Loris, S.C., died Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Heartfields Assisted Living of Cary following an illness. Born January 1, 1919, in Green Sea, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Mr. Alva Emory Grainger and the late Essie Magnolia Harrelson Grainger. Mrs. Stevens attended Wingate College where she was crowned Miss Wingate in 1941. She went on to complete her bachelors at the University of South Carolina. After graduation Mrs. Stevens taught school for 37 years, many of those years at Daisy, receiving her masters during that time. She was a longtime member of Loris First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her three sons; Keith Brooklyn Stevens and wife, Gloria, Bryan Stevens and wife, Gail, all of Cary, N.C., and Bruce Stevens and wife, Donna of Camden, S.C.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Burvie Brooklyn Stevens; three brothers, Sherwood Grainger, Braxton Grainger and Autman Grainger; and three sisters, Alpha Prince, Esther Stevens and Lillian Hunt. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with committal services following at Twin City Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Mark Stevens will officiate services. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Tuesday at Hardwick Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
