Benjamin Elexy "Benjie" Edge, Jr., of Conway, died September 27, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Conway and the Hand Community, and the widower of the late Jean Lowell Johnson Edge; and a son of the late Benjamin Elexy Edge, Sr. and Charlotte Anna Bourne Edge. Mr. Edge was the owner of the Edge Stables and a retired farmer. He was a Trustee on the North Myrtle Beach School Advisory Board (1974-1986), a Trustee on the Grand Strand Career Center Advisory Board (1975-1985), and Past Chairman (1984-1986) of the Grand Strand Career Center Advisory Board. Surviving are sons, Dr. Benjamin Elexy Edge, III and wife, Anita S, of Clemson, their children, Kyle and Matthew Edge; Christopher Dale Edge of Lake Wylie and his children, Tyler, Adam and Sarah Edge; Stuart Neal Edge of Conway; a daughter, Stephanie Jeanne Edge Wise of Ashville, N.C. and children, Virginia "Ginger" Wise, Alex and Cora Wise; brother, Samuel B. Edge of Matthews, N.C., and Jennings Edge of Calabash, N.C. He was preceded in death by brother, Clifton Edge; and sisters, Lillian Watson, Wilma Stevens, Geraldine Patrick and Ruth Grigsby. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Black. Entombment will follow in the Hillcrest Mausoleum.
