Velma Brown Thompkins, 79, of Hwy 548 died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at her residence. She was born October 26, 1930 in Conway, a daughter of the late Ellie Lenard and Roberta Cannon Brown. In additions to her parents, she is predeceased by one son, Tommy Thompkins and one brother, J. C. Brown. Velma was a loving wife, mother and sister. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the greatest Mom, always making sure her children came first above everything else. Velma also loved her flowers. Mrs. Thompkins is survived by her husband, Archie Thompkins of the home; one son, Tony Lenue Thompkins (Johnnie) of Conway; one daughter, Gloria Ann King (HH) of Loris; three sisters, Bearnice Jones of Conway, Elnita Singleton (Cletta) of Conway and Margaret Cox of Loris; three brothers, Jeff L, Brown (Barbara), and David L. Brown (Mary) all of Conway; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will miss her. The family will receive friends at Free Welcome Freewill Baptist Church from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm Thursday, September 16, 2010. Funeral Services will be held 3pm Friday, September 17, 2010 at Free Welcome Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Baker, Rev. Ray Cribb and J. C. Gasque officiating.
