CHARLESTON - Paul LeGrand Martin, age 85, of North Charleston, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 13, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Conway SC on February 8th, 1925 to the late Hallie Porter Martin and Emma Lewis Martin. He was of the Holiness Faith. He was retired from Detyens Shipyard in Charleston, SC, and was a member of the Naval Reserve. He was a retired carpenter and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He is survived by his wife: Bertha Smith Martin of North Charleston, SC; daughters: Vera Mell Wilson (Robbie) of Goose Creek SC, Sandra Mackey (Edward) of James Island SC, and Kathy Merritt (H. Davis) of Summerville SC; grandchildren: Patience Fairman of Reidsville NC, Eddie Mackey III (Karen) of Hollywood SC, Angela Clyde (Patrick) of Ladson SC, and Kenny Swayne of Ladson SC; great-grandchildren: Kathryn, James, Kenny, and Cody; brother: Bruce Martin of Conway SC; sisters: Doretha Long of Conway, SC, and Genevia Anderson, of Conway SC. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, August 16, 2010, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC 29406. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 15, 2010, at the funeral home.
