Conway & Pawley's Island....On Monday, August 9, 2010, Madge W. Langston departed this life and went home to the Lord. Mrs. Langston was born August 21, 1915 to Susan and Sam M. Wingate in Chesterfield, SC. For many years she owned and operated Madge's Beauty Shop on 13th Avenue in Conway, SC. She devoted her life to loving and raising her 2 daughters, Jo Dean and Susan Richardson. After her husband, Wilbur S. Richardson died, she met and married Bud LaRue Langston. They lived in Pawley's Island, SC and had over 20 beautiful years together. There she worked with her dearest friend, Susan Hill Tyler at Ruby's Beauty Salon. Mrs. Langston retired at 82 in good health and eventually came to live with her daughter, Susan in Charleston, SC. She died after a courageous 1 and a half years battle with ALS. We were blessed with the World's Best Mother and Grandmother and she will be so missed by her 2 daughters, Jo Dean Bauknight of Columbia, SC and Susan Hihn of Goose Creek, SC; 4 granddaughters, Barbara Brickley, Kim Smart, Joni Allen and Amy Armstrong; one grandson, Chuck Bauknight and 12 great-grandchildren. Madge was predeceased by her parents, her 2 husbands, 3 sisters, Pat Roberts, Libby Schafer, Margie Fowler and 2 brothers, Sam M. Wingate, Jr. and Truesdale Wingate. Family and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
