    2. Mr. Hoyt Elwood Tyler, age 71, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness. Born July 15, 1939 in Loris, SC he was the son of the late Reverend Norman Emmett Tyler and the late Mrs. Mary Jane Barnhill Tyler. Mr. Tyler was associated with Howard Johnson restaurant and was the former owner of Red Barn Restaurant in Lake City, SC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a longtime member of Cane Branch Baptist Church in Loris, SC. Survivors include his wife: Barbara Tyler of the home; two daughters: Teresa Suddreth and husband Mike and Mary Darlene Rogers all of Florence, SC; two stepchildren: Emory Boyd Stephens and wife Amanda of Florence, SC, and Barbara Nell Howard and husband Gary of Lake City, SC; two brothers: Larry R. Tyler and wife Carole of Little River, SC and Ronald E. Tyler and wife Pat of Hickory, NC; two sisters: Pearl Shelley of Loris, SC and Gloria Joan Speer of Dallas, GA; six grandchildren: Vanessa Smith, Lance Tyler Rogers, Matt Stephens, John Stephens, Vangie Thigpen and Meredith Jeffords; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Tyler was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Mr. Michael W. Tyler. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Cane Branch Baptist Church with committal services following at Cane Branch Cemetery. Pastor Jon Johnson and Reverend Alvin Jackson will officiate services. Visitation will be Monday August 9, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hardwick Funeral Home.
