RUSSELLVILLE, SC - Arnie "Roy" Coats, 92, of Russellville, SC, a retired salesman, died Saturday morning at his residence. His funeral will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2010, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in the St. Stephen Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., this Monday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Christian Outreach Ministries, PO Box 306, St. Stephen, SC 29479. Mr. Coats was born October 8, 1918, in Conway, SC, a son of John Coats and Bessie Bryant Coats. He was an Army veteran of WW II, he enjoyed fishing, but most of all, he loved his children. Mr. Coats was preceded in death by a son, Danny Weaver, and two daughters, Moselle T. Lane and Mary Anderson. Surviving are, his wife, Grace Wadford Coats; two daughters, Geneva Richey and her husband, Joe, of Goose Creek, and Libby Claude of N. Charleston; a son, Cleo Mitchell and his wife, Lynn, of Atlanta, GA; a daughter-in-law, Ann Weaver of Goose Creek; a son-in-law, James C. "Jimmy" Lane, Sr., of Moncks Corner; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to especially thank Anne Winkle, Sarah Wadford, Shirley Wadford, and his granddaughter, Holly Carroll, for all of their help and care throughout his illness.
