Sarah Young Thompson, 98, of Pawleys Island, departed this life on Monday, November 15, 2010. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010 at St. John AME Church in Pawleys Island with the Rev. Alford Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the hour of services at the Church. Mrs. Thompson was born December 16, 1911 in Pawleys Island, the daughter of the late Charlie and Josephine Young. She was a member of St. John AME Church where she served as an usher and in other capacities. Survivors are her children, Ephraim Thompson, Charlie Thompson, Clinton Thompson, Rodney Thompson, and Shirley T. Bessellieu; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
