Hi, I am looking for information on my great-grandfather Joseph E. Neely (spelled various ways). Joseph E. Neely was born in September 1862 in Columbus County, North Carolina. Probably the son of Confederate soldier Edmond Neely (who died probably from wounds received at the Battle of Gaines Mill in Virginia) and Elizabeth A. Cartrette Neely, Joseph E. Neely was a farmer who married Sharlotte Ada Sarvis Neely. They had three children who survived: Joseph Bowden Neely, Sr., Ada Catherine Neely Young (the twin of Oliver Neely who died in infancy), and Ruth Beatrice Neely Rogers. He and his wife are probably buried in unmarked graves in the Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery in Horry County, South Carolina near her Sarvis relatives. I am not, however, certain who Joseph E. Neely's parents are. Any ideas? Thanks, Sharlotte Neely Donnelly donnelly@one.net
