BOONE, NC - M. Elease Berry, 71, of Boone, NC, formerly of Charleston, SC, died Friday, December 24, 2010, at her residence. She was born in Marion, SC on July 19, 1939, to the late Clarence E. Joye and Alice Smith Joye. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family. She enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, reading books by Joyce Meyer, and spending time with family and friends. She retired as Dining Room Supervisor from S&S Cafeteria after 16 years service. She was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church in Charleston. Upon moving to Boone, NC, she joined Greenway Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons: Milton Otis Berry, Jr. of Summerville, SC, Ronald Lee Berry of Capitola, CA, and Andrew Clarence Berry of Boone, NC; daughters: Robin Berry McCord of Little River, SC, and Tara Berry Baraniak of Richmond Hill, GA; and seven grandchildren; brothers: Sam C. Joye of Marion, SC, Freddie W. Joye of Waynesboro, PA, Alton Boatwright of Marion, SC, and Rickie Joye of Chenny Hill, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Mausoleum, North Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, prior to the service. The family is gratefully accepting floral tributes in honor of M. Elease Berry, or memorials may be made in her honor to High Country Health Care System, for their hospice care, at 895 State Farm Road, # 302, Boone, NC 28607.
