    2. COLUMBIA - Betty Glenda Jernigan Spotts, 71, wife of Johnny Arthur Spotts Sr., went home to Jesus on December 25, 2010, after a courageous struggle with cancer. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Kenny Kelly and Laverne Hancock will officiate. Betty was born April 1, 1939 in Horry County to the late Ira and Geneva Jernigan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and most importantly, a servant for Christ. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was married to the love of her life, Johnny A. Spotts Sr. for 50 golden years. Betty was owner-operator of Spotts Day Care for over 30 years. In the beginning, she was referred to by all the children as 'Aunt Bet'. After her grandchildren were born, her name was soon 'Maw-Maw' to everyone who knew her. Maw-Maw is survived by her husband, Johnny A. Spotts Sr.; children, Glenda Sue Pittman and husband, Tony, of Lugoff, Johnny 'Artie' Spotts Jr. and wife, Debra, of Columbia; grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Pittman of Lugoff, Tabatha Lauren Spotts of Columbia, Matthew Bryan Spotts of Columbia; brothers, Jimmy Jernigan and wife, Marlene, of Matthews, N.C., Archie Jernigan and wife, Elizabeth, of Elizabethtown, N.C., Linvell Jernigan of Fayetteville, N.C. She was predeceased by her brother, Larry Joe Jernigan. The family would like to thank all of Maw-Maw's family and friends for their love, support and heartfelt prayers. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jeremy Ambroziak for being more than a doctor - a friend. Finally the family would also like to thank Marlene Jernigan for her help and support during this hard time.
