Mable Davis Snowden, 91, wife of the late Bates Snowden, died Monday morning at her home. Mrs. Snowden was born in Horry County, the daughter of the late Bruce and Mellie Davis. After marrying Bates, they were constant companions working side by side on the farm for over fifty years. They also enjoyed visiting others in the community. Mrs. Snowden was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she was in charge of the Card Ministry for many years. She was predeceased by two brothers, F. Emory and G. Coley Davis; and three sisters, Florence Hansen, Leila Singleton, and Dorothy Davis. Survivors include two daughters, Sara S. Bates and Lois S. Byrd (Roger), both of Charleston; two sons, George H. Snowden (Mary) and Samuel B. Snowden (Peggy), both of Conway; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and special friends and caregivers, Nancy Richardson, Lisa and Katrina. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Care of South Carolina, especially, Susan, Yvonne, Annette, and John. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2010 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Swilley and the Rev. Billy Hackett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
