FLORENCE - Eva Hardee Benton, 78, of Florence, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Benton was born in Horry County, SC a daughter of the late Tharon C. and Eva Hardwick Hardee. She was a member of Abundant Life Church and hosted a monthly Ladies Bible Group. She retired from the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) and was an independent Shacklee Distributor for over 20 years She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse W. Benton, Sr., who died November 3, 2009; brother, Eugene Hardee and three sisters, Nina Ree Bellamy, Jessie Lois Long and Elma Mae Gore. Surviving are her daughter, Susan (Mitch) Horton of Raleigh, NC; son, Woody Benton of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Jon (Renee) Horton, Sarah Horton, Jessica Horton and Lindsay Horton, all of Raleigh, NC, Eric Benton, Stephen Benton and Conor Benton, all of Norwalk, OH; brother, Willie D. (Linda) Hardee of Fort Mill, SC and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Abundant Life Church, 3030 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC 29505. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the Abundant Life Church. Entombment will follow in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
