    2. LEXINGTON - Mrs. Carrie 'Dixie' Thomas Howard, 71, wife of Milton W. Howard, Sr., has gone to her heavenly home on Monday, July 5, 2010. Mrs. Howard endured a long and courageous battle with cancer of many types. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Red Bank Baptist Church with interment in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. Butch Powell, Rev. Junior Jacobs and Rev. Robert Jumper. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 120 Community Drive, Lexington, SC 29073. Mrs. Howard was born March 26, 1939 in Mullins, SC. She is the daughter of Carrie Lee Lane Johnson and the late John C. Johnson, Sr. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the Betty Starries Sunday School Class. Mrs. Howard is survived by her mother of Mullins; husband of Lexington; daughter, Carrie Gayle Knight (Timothy) of Lexington; sisters, Louise Branson of Jacksonville, FL, Mary Alice O'Quinn (Russell) of Tehachapi, CA, Lucille Johnston (Joe) of Conway and Dean Sawyer of Mullins; brother, John C. Johnson, Jr. (Betty) of Mullins; step children, Anita McCormack, Marsha Garner, Wade Howard and Steve Howard and 4 step grandchildren and 1 step great- grandchild all of Lexington and her granddaughter, the sunshine of her life, Kari Alexandria Knight. She was predeceased by her father; and husbands, Hubert Archie Martin and Blangy J. Thomas.
