Vivian S. Williamson, 80, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010. She was born April 4, 1930, in Conway, S.C., a daughter of the late Robert Van and Ethel Woodle Squires. Vivian was a retired Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). She worked at the Ocean View Memorial Hospital until it closed and moved to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center until she retired in 1982. She was credited with performing the first general anesthetic at Grand Strand Regional in 1976. She graduated from Conway High School in 1948, received her nursing degree from Columbia Hospital Nursing School in 1953, and her CRNA degree from Mercy Hospital Anesthesia School in New Orleans in 1961. Vivian was a member of the S.C. Air National Guard, and served in the U.S. Air Force (1959-1963) as a CRNA with the rank of First Lieutenant. She married Curtis Lee Williamson Jr. on July 8, 1965, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Evelina Ramsey Circle and the M.D. Moore Sunday School Class. She is survived by her husband, Curtis L. Williamson Jr. of Myrtle Beach; her son, Lieutenant Colonel (U.S. Marines) Curtis Lee Williamson III, assigned to The Pentagon, and wife, Page Barnes Williamson; her daughter, Patricia Williamson Freyburger and husband, Eric Thomas Freyburger, of Myrtle Beach; her sister, Emogene Graham of Aynor, S.C.; and her five grandchildren, Curtis Lee Williamson IV, Henry Bray Williamson, Hayden O'Quinn Williamson, Brigham Logan Freyburger and Aubrey Grainger Freyburger. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Timmerman officiating. Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the Grainger Cemetery near Conway. The family will receive friends Monday, from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m., in the Church Chapel at the FUMC.
