NICHOLS - Lewis Venston Huggins, age 96, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Loris Community Hospital following an illness. Mr. Huggins was born in Horry County a son of the late Rufus James Huggins and the late Fronnie Stroud Huggins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served in World War II and took part in the Normandy Invasion. Mr. Huggins enjoyed racking horses and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by three brothers, Grover, Wade, and Hicks, and three sisters, Esther, Lucille, and Noma. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eula Mae Fowler Huggins of the home, four children, Brooks of Columbia, Coleman of Nichols, Nancy of York, and Stanton of Nichols, four brothers, R.J. of Hemingway, Furman of North Myrtle Beach, Billy of Nichols, and Nolan of Surfside Beach, three sisters, Muriel of Nichols, Gussie of Atlanta, Ga., and Virginia of Atlanta, Ga., eight grandchildren, C.V., Clark, Donnie, Kimberly, Crystal, Taylor, Tate, and Autumn, and twelve great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 15, 2010, from 10-11 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Annex. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Fischbach officiating. Committal services, with military honors, will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Mt.
