CONWAY - Fred William "Billy" Barfield, Jr. age 77 died June 24, 2010 at Conway Medical Center. Mr. Barfield was a native of Lake City and a son of the late Rev. Fred W. Barfield, Sr. and Edith Young Bar-field. He retired as a security guard with Excalibur Security and a Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Army and the US Navy. Mr. Barfield was predeceased in death by a daughter, Lorita B. Parker, and three brothers, Larson Barfield, Gerald Barfield, and LeGrande Barfield; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Larrimore. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Margaret Alford Barfield of Conway; one son, Darrell G. Barfield of Conway; two daughters, Bonita Rabon and husband Ray of Mullins and Rosita King and husband Laverne of Conway; three brothers, Laverne Barfield of Walker-ton, Canada, Rev. James E. Barfield of Conway, and Rev. Sherrod Barfield of Socastee; three sisters, Gwendolyn Whalen of Florence, Carroll Skipper of Galivants Ferry, and Darlyn Adams of Socastee; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 step-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. James Barfield and Rev. Sherrod Barfield officiating. Burial will follow in the State Branch Cemetery.
