Rosie Mae Watts Benton, age 82, wife of the late John M. Benton, Jr., died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Conway Manor. Mrs. Benton was born in Conway, a daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and Tersie Naomi Watts Watts. She attended the Prayer Center of Conway. Mrs. Benton retired with AVX with 43 years of service. She loved fishing, and was an avid gardener. Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by one grandson, Samuel Joseph Bratcher and her 1st husband, Jessie Mayo Bessant; four brothers, Ardell Watts, Lloyd Watts, and Hickman Watts, and John Buddy Watts; and one sister, Dollie Mae Watts. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Mayo Bessant of Conway, and Roger Dale Bessant and wife Doris of Conway; two daughters, Linda Gail Bratcher and husband Sammy of Aynor, and Audrey Benton Jordan and husband Richard of Myrtle Beach; seven grandchildren, Harry Bessant,Dale Bessant, Crystal Bratcher, Brandy Jordan Carll, Mark Bessant, Richard Anthony Jordan, Jr., and Marsha Bessant; and 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Watts; four sisters, Veran, Janie, Annie Mae, and Mary Lee. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Gary Harrelson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
