I was a child in Horry during WW-II, and remember seeing men working on the roadside and hearing them speak but not being able to understand them. I was later told by my parents that they were speaking German and were German POWs. The area in which the Dunes Club is now located was then known as Singleton Swash (or Singleton's Wash); we used to go there for fishing and crabbing and cookouts when I was a child. It was used by the US Army Air Corps as a practice strafing range, so it is not probable that it was also used as a POW camp. I seem to recall that there was some sort of strange military installation north west of Cherry Grove Beach (now part of N. Myrtle Beach) and north west of Nixon's Cross Roads that may have been a POW camp. James T. I believe it was in Myrtle Beach in the vicinity of the Dunes Club.
