The book was copywrited in 1960 by Charlotte Stevenson and was printed by The R.L. Bryan Company, Columbia, S.C. It has a Forward and an Introduction of 4 or 5 pages and then the book proper is 181 pages in length and appears to be fully indexed. Charlotte was/is the daughter of the author, Mary Lewis Stevenson and finished the book after her mother died. There are nine chapters titled as follows: 1. William Lewis of Horry County, S.C. 2. The Eleven Children of William Lewis 3. Descendants of Isaac Lewis 4. Descendants of Hardy Lewis 5. Descendants of Jonothan Lewis 6. Descendants of Joel Lewis 7. Descendants of Patrick Lewis 8. Descendants of Polly Lewis Nichols 9. Descendants of Zilpha Lewis and William Gerald Those chapters cover 140 pages leaving 40 pages for an all-name index. It is easy to use and has quiet a bit of information concerning birth, death, burial, education, marriage, and occupation and possibly other facts such as migration. The period covered appears to be from about 1725 or there about to the late 1950s. I am having no success in remembering from whom I got the book. I think that it was someone on the SCHORRY-L list some 3 or 4 years ago but it could have just as easily been on the LEWIS-L list. My understanding was/is that the book is no longer in print. I have found the book to be very useful in expanding my database but, alas, it didn't tell me when nor from where or whom my GGGrandfather Gilbert LEWIS originated. I'll do some limited look-ups in the book for those persons who make such a request, but I must warn in advance that I can sometimes be slow in returning messages. Later, ROB Robert G.
