I live about 10 miles from the home place of the Bighams that Greg was talking about. The old house has been torn down only a few years, and the old well in the backyard was still there. The big tree in the backyard still had red stains on it that the old folks around here said was blood where Edmond wiped his hands. I've been to his fathers grave, and the old story is, he was so mean that when he died and was buried, the grass wouldn't grow over his grave. And sure enough, it is as bare today as always. They were some MEAN people. One of my old and dear friends told me some tales about them that would make your hair stand up. His mother was kin to them somewhere down the road.
