    1. [SCHORRY-L] TAYLOR, WITHERSPOON, WILSON, WYLLYS, CONGDON
    2. Hi All, Thanks to a kind woman who answered my query on the Georgetown list, I have made a major breakthrough, so am posting a new query. My grandmother, MAY CONGDON TAYLOR from Georgetown, died last August here in Boston at age 94; shortly before her death, I learned her parents divorced when she was kindergarten age, and she never saw her father again. I have been beating my head against a wall for over a year on my search for her father, DR. JOHN E. TAYLOR, a dentist from (I thought) Georgetown, but now know was Charleston and Columbia. I am searching the following: JOHN E. TAYLOR, DDS from Charleston, b. Aug 20, 1875 - d. May 6, 1936. Son of FRANK E. TAYLOR of Charleston b. Mar 22, 1846 - d. May 18, 1913 (his parents were James H. Taylor and Elizabeth Tyler Taylor) and CLARA SCOTT WILSON of Williamsburg, SC, b. Aug. 26, 1848 - d. Oct. 13, 1931 (daughter of Janet B. Witherspoon Wilson and Robert Harvey Wilson). The family home was located at 67 Rutledge Ave, Charleston. Brother of: HARRIETTE TAYLOR ARMSTRONG ALICE R. TAYOR JEANETTE WITHERSPOON TAYLOR RUTH WYLLYS TAYLOR CLARA WILSON TAYLOR MABEL HARLAKENDEN TAYLOR DR. JAMES H. TAYLOR HERBERT TYLER TAYLOR >From "History of SC" book located in Georgetown, SC, this kind woman found a reference to a Governor Wyllys, of MA and Governor Haynes, of CT as forebears of Frank E. Taylor's father, James H. Taylor, b. 1811 in Sunderland, MA, and moved to SC in 1830, settling in Charleston. Most Taylors are buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston. The Witherspoon and Wilson branch are buried in Indiantown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Indiantown, Williamsburg County. The CONGDON branch is buried in Prince George Winyah Church in Georgetown. If anyone runs across any of these names, I'd be grateful to hear from you. Sincerely, Kerry McCarthy-Wood Boston kmcwnu@aol.com
