Thanks to all who offered suggestions and if others have thoughts on the subject I would be happy to hear them. Glenda: Do you have the address for the Horry County Museum? Can they be reached by email? Carl: I have tried scanning the back of the picture but the pencil marks are just too faint and too much the same color as the backing material to register on the scan. I owned the picture for about 2 years and examined it many times for any clues and only recently noticed any evidence of markings. When holding it at a shallow angle, I can just make out a number which looks something like 1884 but nothing else can be made out. Vicky: The HCHS site would be a good place to display the picture except it doesn't seem to have a place for the purpose. It does have a section for photographs, but they are organized alphabetically by name. Maybe Craig could add a section for posting unidentified photos along with a brief description of whatever is known. (What do think Craig?) Thanks, Robert E. Lewis
